Xi'an

Xi'an has to be our favourite city so far. This is one of the few cities in China where the old city walls are still standing, the city center located within these walls is far less busy than other cities wich makes it a great place to take it down a gear and relax a bit. A stroll trough the muslim quarter will surely tickle those tastebuds. These narrow lanes are packed with foodstalls, tiny restaurants, butcher shops... Its a wonderful place to grab a quick bite and taste different/new things. A walk or bike ride on top of the city walls is great way of enjoying some afternoon sun, the views and sights are wonderful. This former terminus of the silk road is a melting pot of cultures and religions which is probably why we enjoyed it so much. When your visiting the muslim quarter be sure to try a round, orange pastry filled with sesam seeds and rose water, its delicious.
