Koh Rong Samloem
After our cultural intermezzo in Siem Reap we were longing for some down time at the beach. So we travelled south towards Sihanoukville, after taking some time in this touristy town we booked some accommodation on a nearby island, Koh Rong Samloem. We hadn't researched a lot about the Cambodian islands so you can image our faces when we docked and realized we had just been dropped off in paradise.
We were greeted by crystal clear water, a beautiful golden, deserted beach and not a sound except for the lapping waves. Having found exactly what we were looking for we couldn't be happier. Relaxing is key when staying on Koh Rong Samloem, we both finally got a chance to catch up on some reading. On the second day we had arranged to do some fun dives. All in all it was a nice experience, although the visibility isn't that great (5-12 meters) we still were able to spot 2 Cobia Sharks swimming by.
Being pleasantly surprised by the amount of underwater activity we decided to hit the water again. This time renting some snorkeling gear and combing the reefs just of shore. There is an abundance of fish and some nice corrals too.
We stayed at the west side of the island, it's the most quiet as there are only two accommodation options. It is also the place if you like sunsets.
